In this YouTube advent calendar first door I try to run "stealthy" with no headlight.

FOREST RUNNINGORIENTEERING

But I had my reserve light mounted to my big headlight, and its next lowest setting was perfect to see the details on the map but without disturbing my night vision. It was a weird experience to run night orienteering being able to see the whole forest without a strong light!

In the end of the course I put on my big headlight to see the white snow and whirling snowflakes more vividly, and to capture it better with the camera.

In the YouTube film though, it is hard to see much when the lamp is not lit, and when the light is on the beauty of the white forest appear. See image below (and the video).

The last days of november it was snowing quite a lot, and one moonlit night I ran out in this powder with my headlamp. Soon I realized that I didn't have to put it on. The snow was so bright I could see the terrain both in the distance and closer. I had this short easy orienteering course that was perfect for a test to run withotut the lamp. When getting to the starting point that was marked with reflective tape, it was almost impossible to see it without a lamp, and the map was also difficult to read, even when the full moon was shining through the clouds.
